Local moves and long-distance moves are billed and planned differently. Understanding the difference helps you budget realistically and avoid surprises.
Local moves (generally within Illinois) are usually priced by the hour: crew size, truck, and time on the clock. The biggest variables are how well you're packed when we arrive and the access at both ends.
Long-distance moves are typically priced by weight and distance, with a delivery window rather than a same-day delivery. Packing quality matters even more — items will sit longer in transit.
For long-distance, expect a slightly longer planning conversation up front: inventory, dates, valuation coverage, and delivery logistics on the other end.
