Packing Fragile Items the Right Way

How professional movers pack glassware, art, and electronics so nothing rattles in transit.

Published February 20, 2025

Fragile items break for two reasons: poor packing or poor stacking. Both are preventable.

Use the right box size. Small, sturdy boxes for dishes and glassware. Medium boxes for kitchen items. Large boxes only for light, bulky things like pillows and lampshades.

Wrap every item individually. Plates stand on edge, never flat-stacked. Glassware gets a paper sleeve and is packed cell-style. Pack tight — anything that rattles will break.

For art and electronics, use original boxes when you have them. Otherwise, double-box with padding on every side and mark FRAGILE on the top and at least two sides.

Ready when you are.
